Portal Origin’s Peer Recognition module is an employee recognition and rewards platform. It enables coworkers to send real-time public shoutouts with confetti celebrations, attach point-bearing core value awards, manage monthly gifting budgets, and redeem earned points for custom company store rewards.

Monthly gifting budgets grant each worker a dedicated pool of points at the beginning of each calendar month to gift to colleagues. Budgets are resolved hierarchically: Direct Worker Overrides take precedence over Role-based rules, which take precedence over Department rules, which fall back to the Workspace Default baseline.

Setting any budget (workspace default, role rule, department rule, or individual worker override) to 0 designates Unlimited Credits. Employees under a 0-budget rule can recognize colleagues and send awards without monthly point restrictions.

Yes. Workspace admins can enable the Giving Budget Rollover policy globally or on individual rules. When enabled, any unspent gifting points from previous calendar months automatically accumulate and carry forward into the current month. When disabled, allowances reset on the 1st of each calendar month.

Admins can configure an Earned Points Expiration Policy: Never Expire (default permanent balance), or automatic expiration after 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, 24 months, or 36 months from the date of the award. The system automatically tracks active non-expired points and prevents expired points from being redeemed in the catalog.

Team members navigate to the Gift Catalog (/recognition/redeem) to browse items organized by category. Each item displays its point cost and live affordability status based on the employee’s active point balance. Workers can select single or multiple quantities and submit redemption orders instantly.

Admins access the Pending Redemptions queue (/recognition/manage/redemption-list) to review requested rewards, recipient names and emails, order timestamps, quantities, and point costs. Admins can fulfill orders with a single click, updating the status to Fulfilled or Cancelled.

Yes. Admins can create and edit custom awards with custom titles (e.g. "Customer Champion", "Innovation Leader"), descriptions, icons (Trophies, Stars, Hearts, Medals, Zap), and point values. The system uses Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD Type 2) to maintain complete historical accuracy.

The Worker Budget Inspector in the management portal allows admins to search any team member and immediately view their effective monthly allowance, exact rule hierarchy source, points spent this month, remaining balance, rollover credits, and points expiration policy.

The Recognition Analytics Dashboard (/recognition/manage/dashboard) provides real-time charts and KPI metrics, including Total Points Given, Total Points Redeemed, Points Outstanding liability, monthly volume trends, points flow comparisons, and unique giver vs. receiver participation over 12 months.
